Data Replication for Networks


A dedicated server collects all data from your servers/workstations and replicates them in the primary genioDATA data centre. genioDATA manages this server, monitoring connections and transactions. This way genioDATA is able to react in case of malfunctions at any given time guaranteeing accessibility of replicated data by the client. The primary data centre synchronizes data at other locations.



The connection between the back-up server and genioDATA data centre uses a highly encrypted VPN tunnel. Without a VPN-key, connecting to the data centre server is not possible.



Back-ups are based on client requirements and data types; they either use synchronization of file-systems and/or databases, or state-of-the art back-up software. All mechanisms and applications employed are cross-platform. Therefore, data back-up and data restoration includes operating systems such as Solaris, MacOS X, Linux, and Windows.



Clients either directly access their data in a file system or use easy-to-handle software that requires no prior experience. There is a variety of access scenarios available for databases and email archives (please see there). Access is limited to the dedicated back-up server of the client network; in case of an error, the data at the genioDATA data centre is accessed via WAN-Connection (DSL, dedicated line). When accessing data stored at the data centre, clients always access the primary data centre with its redundant infrastructure and high accessibility rate.



The client has reading access to the genioDATA server data in his network, as well as to the primary genioDATA data centre. genioData can arrange for separate or hierarchical access authorizations, so that not all employees will have access to all data indiscriminately. Drawing up a concept for individual access authorization is part of the planning stage at the beginning of the contract.
